How to Save Vimeo Videos (Including Embedded Players)
Updated: 2026-11-04
Vimeo only shows a download button when the owner turns it on. OneTap Save can save the video the Vimeo player is playing — on vimeo.com or on another site that embeds it — when you have the right to keep a copy.
Steps
- Install OneTap Save for Chrome or Edge and pin it to the toolbar.
- Open the video page or the page with the embedded Vimeo player, and press play.
- Click the OneTap Save icon and pick a quality. You see the file size before downloading.
- Click Download. Streams that come in pieces are joined into one MP4 file.
What can’t be saved
Videos protected with DRM (such as some paid Vimeo On Demand titles) and live events can’t be saved. Password-protected videos only work after you enter the password on the page yourself.
FAQ
Does it work for Vimeo videos embedded on other sites?
Yes, for common Vimeo embeds. Play the video on the page first, then open OneTap Save.
Only save videos and images you own or have permission to use, and follow each site’s terms. OneTap Save does not bypass DRM or paywalls.
