How to Save Videos from X (Twitter) to Your Computer
X (formerly Twitter) has no download button for videos. If you need an offline copy of a video you posted yourself, or one you have permission to use, a browser extension is the easiest way.
Steps
- Install OneTap Save for Chrome or Edge.
- Open the post (click its timestamp so it opens on its own page) and play the video.
- Click the OneTap Save icon in the toolbar.
- Choose the quality, then click Download.
Good to know
- Opening the single post works better than scrolling the timeline, where many videos load at once.
- Videos in protected accounts are only visible if you can already see them, and the same rules about permission apply.
FAQ
Do I need an X account?
Only if X asks you to sign in to view the post. OneTap Save itself needs no account.
Can I save GIFs?
X stores GIFs as short videos, so they are saved as video files.
Only save videos and images you own or have permission to use, and follow each site’s terms. OneTap Save does not bypass DRM or paywalls.
