Why a Video Won’t Download (and What to Try)

When a video won’t download, the cause is usually one of a few things. Work through this list from top to bottom.

1. The page isn’t playing the video yet

Many sites only load the video file after you press play. Open the video’s own page, start playback, then open the extension.

2. The page was open before you installed or updated

Extensions can’t see pages that were already open. Refresh the page once.

3. You are on a list, feed or search page

Feeds load many videos at once, or none until you click. Open the single video or post.

4. The video is DRM-protected

Paid streaming services encrypt their video. No legitimate extension can save it, and OneTap Save doesn’t try.

5. It is a live stream

Live broadcasts don’t have a finished file yet. Try again once a replay is published.

6. The site isn’t supported in your browser

Because of Chrome Web Store policy, the Chrome version doesn’t download from YouTube.

7. You’ve reached today’s free limit

The free plan saves 3 files a day and resets at midnight. You can try Pro for 7 days for $3.99, with no auto-renewal.

Still stuck?

Email [email protected] with the page address, a screenshot and your extension version (shown at the bottom of the OneTap Save window).

Only save videos and images you own or have permission to use, and follow each site’s terms. OneTap Save does not bypass DRM or paywalls.
