Users, ratings, rating counts and update dates come from the linked store listings; the Stream Recorder snapshot comes from Chrome-Stats. Figures change. OneTap Save is a new listing with no public user or rating figure, so we leave those cells honest instead of inventing social proof.
This article is maintained by the OneTap Save team, the developer of the product listed here. Competitor feature descriptions are based on public listings, not a complete hands-on test of every extension. Follow the store links in the table for current versions and reviews. How we picked
- Still available from the Chrome Web Store on November 4, 2026.
- Updated within roughly the last 18 months, avoiding clearly abandoned MV2-era listings.
- Useful for ordinary video or real stream formats, not only a single direct-file edge case.
- Limitations are included. Every alternative has at least 100,000 public users; OneTap Save is disclosed as the publisher’s own new-listing exception.
1. OneTap Save: best fit for video + image workflows
OneTap Save combines video detection with image ZIP packages, subtitles, a local download queue and resumable tasks on supported sources. It works locally by default and needs no OneTap account. The tradeoff is important: it is new and has far less public feedback than the established extensions; its public support list separates verified samples from adapted pages awaiting live retest.
2. Video DownloadHelper: mature, broad coverage
Its store listing shows 6 million users, a 4.7 rating and 36.2K ratings, plus HLS, DASH, MPD, conversion and audio extraction. It is the mature pick when breadth matters. Some advanced workflows may involve paid features or a companion application.
3. Video Downloader Professional: simple and established
The store shows 5 million users and 229.8K ratings. Its strength is a straightforward list-and-download flow. Its own listing explicitly names restrictions for YouTube, Instagram, Dailymotion, VK and TikTok.
4. CocoCut: HLS plus recording fallback
The store shows 900,000 users and a 4.8 rating. It merges M3U8 segments and offers a recording mode for harder players. Recording fallback may require the video to keep playing in real time.
5. FetchV: focused stream toolkit
The store shows 900,000 users and a 4.9 rating. Its listing covers HLS, DASH, live streams, VTT subtitles, audio extraction and local processing. Encrypted or non-standard playback remains outside its scope.
6. Stream Recorder: HLS live and archived streams
The public snapshot recorded for this comparison shows 1 million users and a 4.65 rating. Its job is clear: capture HLS/m3u8 streams and produce MP4. It is a specialist rather than an image or mixed-media organizer.
Limits shared by every pick
Chrome Web Store editions generally do not support YouTube downloads and cannot legitimately bypass DRM, logins, paywalls or private content. Save only material you have the right to keep and follow the source site’s terms.
